About the Prize

YUHU-DÍJ is a new literary prize, established by the poet and prose writer Domonkos István’s daughter, Domonkos Martina. The prize’s name comes from the title of Domonkos István’s poetry collection, Yu-Hu-Rap. Domonkos István’s entire body of poetic and prose work took shape close to the edge of artistic silence, while he was deeply preoccupied with the future of poetic speech, and worried about talents lost for lack of encouragement and support. The prize’s aim is to seek out and support young, early-career Hungarian-language writers, and to help launch their literary careers.
